Welcome to the Gift of Mary Urban Immersion Mission Center—where hearts, minds, and hands come together to make a meaningful impact in the city of Pittsburgh. Our center is dedicated to providing immersive experiences that inspire, educate, and empower individuals, groups, and communities to engage in transformative service.
Gift of Mary hosts short-term urban immersion mission experiences for high school, college, and adult groups. These multi-day trips combine hands-on service, prayer, community and encounters with those living on the margins. The experience will also include an opportunity to visit and worship in Pittsburgh’s most beloved Sacred places. Through serving, participants gain a deeper awareness of Christ’s presence in the poor and return home with a renewed missionary zeal.

Our mission is to ignite change by connecting people with the realities of urban life through direct service, learning initiatives, and spiritual reflection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate? Our programs are open to all—families, youth, adults, and groups. We offer small, hands-on experiences for groups up to 26, and ages 14+.
Do I need prior experience? NO prior experience is necessary. Just bring an open mind and a willingness to learn and serve.
Is housing provided? YES! We have 26 beds! For overnight and multi-day programs, our center offers safe, comfortable accommodations right in the city. All bedding, towels, and meals are provided. We recommend participants bring only a backpack, as you will be experiencing full urban immersion, which include walking and public transportation.
Is this a faith-based center? YES! Our roots are in the Catholic faith and we offer opportunities for groups to attend mass and adoration. Our mission center has a chapel onsite and a sacristy if a group has a priest in attendance. While our roots are in faith-based service, we welcome people of all beliefs and backgrounds.
Programs and Opportunities
We offer a variety of programs tailored to diverse groups and interests. Each experience is designed to foster deep learning, personal growth, and meaningful connection with the urban community.
Urban Immersion Weekends: 3- and 4-day short-term programs for groups to experience city life, volunteer with local partners, and reflect on social justice issues.
Extended Service Retreats: Multi-day or week-long immersion experiences, including hands-on service, workshops, and community dialogues.
Youth and Young Adult Engagement: Specialized programs for high school and college students focused on leadership development, vocation exploration, and urban ministry.
Corporate and Congregational Partnerships: Customizable experiences for businesses and churches to foster team building, corporate responsibility, and faith in action.
